Upcoming Events:
California Agriculture License Plates Farm Smart Classroom Assistance Funds

California Agriculture License Plate!

Thank you to everyone who ordered a California Agriculture license plate! The process of getting approval for this agriculture special interest license plate was no small feat, and we sincerely appreciate everyone who signed up for one! We can't wait to start seeing them on California roads.

If you ordered your license plate, you should hear from the DMV soon with information on your order. If you have not yet ordered your license plate, you will still be able to place an order once the program has been set up in the DMV systems.

The vast majority of fees associated with the license plate will go directly to support California agriculture education and help maintain our agriculture education programs like FFA for future generations. The infusion of much needed funds will help replace the funding that many FFA chapters lost during the state's budget crisis.

Contact at or by phone at 760-352-3831 for more information, or go to www.CalAgPlate.com to get more details. Or simply ask your local FFA Advisor or officers about the program.

Farm Smart Classroom Assistance Funds

It is the highlight of many students' year when they get a chance to enjoy a day with Farm Smart. The local program is located at the University of California Desert Research and Extension Center and offers hands-on tours of their working farm. Students learn about agriculture and the ways that agriculture affects their daily lives. And everyone goes home with a bag of fresh produce they picked themselves from the farm!

With the significant budget cuts at schools around the state, even the cost of bussing students to the farm is more than some classes can afford. Farm Bureau didn't want to see students miss out on this terrific experience, so we started a fund to assist classes with the cost of bussing.

Support this program by purchasing a 2012 Farm Bureau Historical Photo Calendar! Proceeds from calendar sales go into a scholarship fund for local classes to help local students learn about agriculture hands-on by participating in Farm Smart tours.

If you are a teacher or administrator and would like more information on the scholarship fund, contact Farm Smart at 760- 356-3067 or reach at or 760-352-3831 for details!
