Pesticide Container Recycling Event March 22 | APPOINTMENT REQUIRED
On March 22, Interstate Ag Plastics will be at the East parking lot of the Imperial County Fairgrounds to recycle empty pesticide containers. To have containers recycled, you will need to make an appointment with Brad Bittleston of Interstate Ag Plastics by calling him at 661-332-6410.
This is a FREE service. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to properly dispose of your used pesticide containers.
Recycling Procedures
- Containers must be triple rinsed and clean, no dirt or pesticide residue on containers will be accepted (click here for rinse and drain procedures)
- Caps and labels must be removed.
- Old and brittle containers will not be accepted. These should be disposed of at an appropriate facility.
- Bring containers in a trailer that can be left at the facility and easily moved.
- Get a receipt from Interstate Ag Plastics. This is very important, as it can be used to verify the appropriate handling of your empty pesticide containers.
If you have any questions about this event, call Farm Bureau at 760-352-3831, or call Linda Evans or Frank Duarte at the Ag Commissioner's office at 760-482-4314. Or contact Farm Bureau here.
Waste Tire Collection
Farm Bureau has four representatives on Imperial County's Illegal Dumping Task Force to help prevent and clean up illegal dumping throughout the rural areas of Imperial County. As part of this effort, the County's environmental health department is working to coordinate a one-time waste tire cleanup.
That is why Imperial County Farm Bureau has been working closely with the Imperial County Public Health Department and Imperial Valley Resource Management Agency to arrange for collection of tires that have been illegally dumped on your property.
Through this program, tires will be collected from your property at no cost to you. Contact Farm Bureau as soon as possible to be included in this FREE tire collection event.
Only passenger car and truck tires will be collected. No tractor or implement tires.
- Tires must be stacked and accessible.
- Tires may be on the rim, but the must not have dirt in the tire well.
- There is no limit to the number of tires that can be collected.
- Pick-up appointments will be scheduled between now and May 15, 2010.
- Tires may only be collected from your property one time during this program.
- A manifest will be presented at the time of pick-up.
Call Farm Bureau at 760-352-3831 to reserve your place in this pick-up program. We will ask you for the following information:
