Imperial Valley is located in the extreme southeastern corner of California. We are bordered on the west by San Diego County, on the east by Arizona, on the north by the Coachella Valley and on the south by the Mexicali Valley, Mexico.
In 2006, total agricultural production in Imperial Valley was $1.365 BILLION. Considered the nation's salad bowl, it is estimated that Imperial Valley provides 90% of the nation's winter produce.
While vegetables and melons are significant crops for the Valley, cattle and alfalfa are our top two agricultural products.
In 2006, there were more than 400,000 head of beef cattle in the Imperial Valley, while the county's human population was estimated at just 160,000.
